The harvest is almost upon us. Typically, this happens during the months of September and October, although there are varietals that are harvested earlier in the year (i.e., some sparkling wines) and some that are late harvests (i.e. sweet dessert wines). Here in the Napa Valley, ‘crush season’ means lots of visitors!
Several wineries even do traditional ‘grape stomping’ during this season! Make like Lucy Ricardo! With the sights and sounds to the distinctive scents that pervade the valley, you don’t want to miss it!
Check us out on Yelp! and TripAdvisor. We’ve gotten great reviews!
We’re also here on Facebook: Cottage Grove Inn

This past month we’ve had our share of honeymooners checking into the Inn. I personally love weddings, and have really enjoyed hearing details about the ceremonies and receptions. Last weekend was no exception, as we hosted 3 recently married couples and 12 couples celebrating their anniversaries! The Napa Valley such a wonderful place to celebrate milestones like this.
I don’t think there a better way to celebrate, than to enjoy each other’s company while sipping delicious wines, dining on gourmet dishes and watching the sun set over the grapevines.

Just wanted to toss in a few pics of our gift shop
We’re constantly adding new and lovely items, and we hope that you enjoy them too.
We’ve recently started to carry a line of dining accessories by Julia Knight, which includes wine stoppers, serving trays and cheese knives. Stop by and check it out!
As many of you know, we host a wine and cheese reception every evening for our guests. We pour several different Napa Valley wines and select a variety of cheeses to compliment them. Its a wonderful time to relax after a long day of touring the valley. Guests can mingle with each other, relax on the lovely patio or take the wines to enjoy in the privacy of their own cottages.
In the chilly weather, the fire blazes in the Common Room and warms the guests as they sip from their glasses of Cabernet or Sauvignon Blanc. During the summer, there’s no better spot than next to the fountain on the patio, where the birds congregate and a breeze blows through our property.
And, as I always say, what better way to end a day of tasting wine, than with more wine!?
Bring your chair or blanket every Thursday night in the summer for free concerts in the park.(If you are staying at Cottage Grove Inn we provide blankets and picnic baskets) They even had food and drinks available there. The nights are nice and cool and you sit under the beautiful trees. Differnet musicians are there every week. Come enjoy a night in Calistoga with all the locals!
Our county fair is officially open today! This year’s theme is ‘Let the Good Times Roll’, and The Napa County Fairgrounds in Calistoga are ready for all of the visitors this holiday weekend, with carnival rides, live music every night (even an Elvis impersonator!) and other fun events. Luckily, the fireworks here are set off close by to the Inn, so if you’re staying with us this weekend there’s sure to be a spectacular sight.
Our fountain is always popular with the birds, and now its become quite the hotspot in the early evening for the bathing beauties. Guests have commented how lovely it is to sip wine and nibble on gourmet cheeses while watching the birds play and sing!

In Inn (hee hee, unexpected assonance) related news, the new headboards have been installed in a few of the cottages and they look fantastic! The new look of our property is really shaping up in fun and sometimes unexpected ways, but all within the scope of our basic outlooks: to keep things fresh, elegant and promoting the feeling of relaxation for all of our guests. Here’s a picture of the new headboard in #3:
